Acoustical: |
Able to absorb sound.

C-leg: |
A worktable leg that is shaped like a block letter C. |
| Cantilevered: |
Describes cubicle furniture in which cantilevers in the panels hold up the desktop surfaces. The work surfaces cannot stand without the panels to support them.

| Cantilevers: |
Brackets that mount into slots on a panel and support a desktop surface. Used in place of legs.

| Duplex receptacle (outlet): |
An electrical outlet with space for two plugs.

| Existing furniture: |
Furniture already present in an office.
|
| Freestanding: |
Describes furniture that stands on its own, with no support from other pieces, such as panels.
|
| Grommet: |
A covered hole in the desktop for routing cables through to the floor.
|
| Lead time: |
The time it takes a factory to fill a purchase order. Factory lead time does NOT include shipping (transit) time.

| Modesty panel: |
A panel below the desktop that hides things under your desk.
|
| Panel: |
A space divider that rests on the floor. Cubicles are made up of panels.
|
| Ped: |
A mobile file.
|
| Raceway: |
A channel for running electrical and telecommunication cables through a panel.

| Tackable: |
Describes a material that accepts thumbtacks, such as a bulletin board.
